Puff Daddy dropped his latest video for “Auction” off of his MMM album, which dropped last year as a free mixtape on his birthday.  Directed by legendary video director, Hype Williams, the black and white visual provides the perfect, minimalist backdrop for seasoned collaborators Lil’ Kim and Styles P along with newcomer King Los.  Watch below.

Pusha T – Darkest Before Dawn

Pusha T’s solo career is taken to new heights with yet another impressive body of work.  After dropping the lyrically impressive My Name Is My Name, Pusha T returns with his solid sophomore album, Darkest Before Dawn.  Pusha brings the bars again and the eclectic production is provided by Kanye West, Puff Daddy, Timbaland, Q-Tip and Hudson Mohawke.  Stream below via Spotify.

2015 was such a great year for music that I ended up writing about way too many albums that resonated with me. Here is my list of personal favorites in no particular order.

Lupe FiascoTetsuo & Youth 

His best work in years, Lupe‘s masterpiece divided into four seasons includes clever punchlines and discusses social issues accompanied by a medley of instruments including violins and atypical banjos.

Erykah Badu But You Caint Use My Phone

Dedicated to society’s fixation with cell phones, Ms. Badu analyzes their affect on relationships over futuristic Funk on a project sparked by Drake‘s “Hotline Bling.”

Kendrick Lamar – To Pimp a Butterfly

Already earning countless accolades including 11 Grammy nominations, Kendrick documents his battles with inner demons while exposing racial inequality and promoting Black pride on a unique fusion of Jazz and Funk.

LogicThe Incredible True Story

A space travel concept album that takes place in the future makes an intriguing listen filled with rapid-fire flows and stellar production influenced by Yeezy, Outkast and golden era Hip Hop.

Dr. Dre – Compton

Dr. Dre‘s return to Hip Hop brings Compton to life with a rich and pictorial West Coast soundtrack assisted by both legends and newcomers.

A$AP Rocky – A.L.L.A.

Dense lyricism and an unconventional assortment of first-class beats compose an album so resplendent it is sure to pique fans’ interest in 2016‘s King Push.

Tame Impala – Currents

Tame Impala‘s third studio album filled with colorful psychedelia will have you floating on feel-good notes perfect for mood lifting or scenic drives.

Album Stream: Puff Daddy – MMM

In honor of his 46th birthday, Puff Daddy dropped a free album called MMM.  Heavily inspired by Paid In Full, the album goes back to Diddy‘s roots and includes OGs Jadakiss, Lil’ Kim, Styles P and current favorites Big SeanFuture, Travis $cott, King Los and Pusha T.  The “sonic motion picture” is high quality and is being heralded as one of Puff’s best in years.  Listen below.

Puff Daddy & The Family – “Workin'”

Puff Daddy‘s “Finna Get Loose” helped spark dance crazes all over the Internet, and now he’s back with another solid track.  “Workin‘” serves as theme music for all of the hustlers out there.  The song, which was premiered during the 2015 BET Hip Hop Awards, can be heard below.

David Sabastian feat. ANTI Society – “Duh”

Wild 90’s videos motifs and neon color palettes permeate LA rapper David Sabastian‘s new video “Duh,” which also features his own collective of artists, producers and designers known as ANTI Society. You’ll see traces of  Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Puff Daddy, Ma$e and Busta Rhymes visuals and even a cameo from supporter DJ Mustard.

Album Stream: King Los – God, Money, War

After teaming up with R. Kelly for “Glory to the Lord,”Baltimore MC King Los drops his solid, new project called God, Money, War.  The album features Ty Dolla $ign and Isaiah Rashad with production from Da Internz and mentor Diddy.  His official LP is expected to drop late 2015 or early 2016.
